Blog » White Cloud Guide Rows Her Way onto the Olympic Team

White Cloud Rafting guide Meg (better known as Super Meg) has been offered a chance to row on the Olympic scout team. Unfortunately for us that means she will only be able to visit Stanley for a short time during the 2009 season.

During the 2008 rafting season Meg trained religiously, rowing on her Erg Machine, running daily, and sticking to a strict diet. We all the thought the she crazy, we told her to relax, to take it easy, hence the name "Super Meg", but it has sense paid off. Meg seemed to think the the high elevation of the Sawtooth mountains definitely helped, and when she returned to the University of Texas for the 2009 rowing season her training paid off. Her times increased significantly and she was soon promoted to the top boat. Meg was so convinced that Stanley, Idaho played a large factor in her success that she returned to train during her winter break. During that time she and her friend Sarah stationed themselves in Sun Valley, from their "training headquarters" they snowshoed Mt. Baldy, skate skied Galena Summit several times, and jogged in downtown Ketchum.

The Olympic scout team training will be held in New York this year. Meg will be leaving for training on June 1 and hopefully be in Stanley later on in the season. Good luck Meg and Congratulations.

See ya on the river,

Jeremy Boswell nto the Olympic Team
