The Steelhead are back and our guides are gearing up for another great fishing season. With the temperatures warming up a bit our local guides are finally able to cast a line. These two beauties were taken on a standard egg sucking leach with a small red egg dropper and modified green skunk butt with brighter colors and flashabo tied in. The water is still murky so try to throw brighter colored streamers and flies to attract more attention. Fishing has been good, The Salmon River is producing anywhere from 3 to 5 steelhead a day. If you go be prepared for cold and rapidly changing conditions, winters not over yet.
In the meantime we are dreaming of warm sunny days, rising Salmon River cutthroat, full blown fishin’ fever and cooling off in the rapids. With a solid 90% snowpack in the Sawtooth Mountains and snow in the forecast, it’s sure to be a surprisingly good water year.Don’t forget to check out our weekly Rafting Trip Raffle. We are starting the raffle early in the season so everyone has chance to win. If you would like to sign up please visit http://www.whitecloudrafting.com/ and send an email through the site.
