With the ringing in of the New Year comes a time for new, bigger ideas for business in the Sawtooth Valley. A time to introduce a new attraction for the enjoyment of our visitors and friends. Drift boat fishing trips have never been offered on the headwaters of the Salmon River- until now! Join Headwaters Fly-Fishing Guides in our journey this spring as we hand build our drift boat and prepare it for its summer unveiling. Drift boats offer a superior fishing experience on the river with their sleek and stylish design. Heck, you don't even have to get your feet wet! Drift boats allow fishing guides to stay in holes for hours with minimal effort. This allows clients to fish the best, unreachable water for as long as desired.

We took on this project at the request of our customers. Our regular Fish and Float trips include free rod rentals, equipment, flies, casting instruction, and local knowledgeable guides, but still, our clients wanted more. Over and over we have been asked why no one offers drift boat fly-fishing trips. ‘Well, why not be the first?’ we asked ourselves. So, Headwaters Fly-Fishing Guides began constructing of a drift boat specially designed for the legendary waters of the Salmon River of No Return.

The drift boat is small and agile in design, to better navigate the wild and scenic Salmon, yet its’ hull is still roomy enough to accommodate 2 fishermen and a fly-fishing guide. Handcrafted by yours truly, this boat will be sure to see some serious action in the upcoming season.
